Ayr\u0131ca kat\u0131lanlar aras\u0131nda The Times gazetesi muhabiri ile romanc\u0131 ve seyyah Edmond About da bulunuyordu. Edmond About bu gezi ile ilgili hat\u0131ralar\u0131n\u0131 1884 y\u0131l\u0131nda De Ponteise a Stamboul isimli kitab\u0131nda yay\u0131nlad\u0131. The Times muhabiri de II. Abd\u00fclhamit ile g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015fmek amac\u0131yla bir s\u00fcre \u0130stanbul&#8217;da kald\u0131.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u015eark Ekspresinin seferlerinin ba\u015flamas\u0131ndan sonra \u0130stanbul&#8217;a gelenler \u015fehirdeki \u00e7e\u015fitli otellerde kal\u0131yordu. 1895 y\u0131l\u0131ndan itibaren ise \u0130stanbul&#8217;a gelen yolcular treni i\u015fleten Vagon-Li \u015eirketi&#8217;nin sat\u0131n ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 Pera Palas&#8217;ta kalmaya ba\u015flad\u0131lar. 4 y\u0131l s\u00fcren (1914-1918) I. D\u00fcnya Sava\u015f\u0131 s\u0131ras\u0131nda \u015eark Ekspresi seferleri yap\u0131lamad\u0131. Tren sava\u015f s\u0131ras\u0131nda istasyonda kald\u0131.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I. D\u00fcnya Sava\u015f\u0131n\u0131 sona erdiren m\u00fctareke \u0130tilaf Devletleri ile Almanya aras\u0131nda Paris yak\u0131nlar\u0131nda \u015eark Ekspresinin 2419 numaral\u0131 vagonunda imzaland\u0131. Daha sonra bu vagon tarihi \u00f6neminden dolay\u0131 Frans\u0131zlar taraf\u0131ndan m\u00fczeye kondu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">II. D\u00fcnya Sava\u015f\u0131 s\u0131ras\u0131nda Almanya, Fransay\u0131 i\u015fgal edince Hitler Almanlar\u0131n I. D\u00fcnya Sava\u015f\u0131nda teslim anla\u015fmas\u0131n\u0131 imzalad\u0131\u011f\u0131 tarihi vagonda bu defa Frans\u0131zlar\u0131n teslim anla\u015fmas\u0131n\u0131 imzalamas\u0131n\u0131 istedi. \u015eark Ekspresinin 2419 numaral\u0131 vagonu m\u00fczeden \u00e7\u0131kar\u0131ld\u0131. Bu tarihi vagonda bu defa Fransa&#8217;n\u0131n teslim anla\u015fmas\u0131 imzaland\u0131. Bu vagon daha sonra Almanya&#8217;ya g\u00f6t\u00fcr\u00fcld\u00fc. 1945 y\u0131l\u0131nda Almanya&#8217;n\u0131n teslim olmas\u0131ndan k\u0131sa bir s\u00fcre \u00f6nce bu vagon bir SS birli\u011fi taraf\u0131ndan imha edildi. B\u00f6ylece Almanya ikinci defa bu tarihi vagonda anla\u015fma imzalama ihtimalinden kurtuldu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1919&#8217;da yeniden seferlerine ba\u015flayan \u015eark Ekspresi 1905 y\u0131l\u0131nda a\u00e7\u0131lan simplon t\u00fcnelinin ismiyle &#8216;Simplon Orient Express&#8217; olarak an\u0131lmaya ba\u015fland\u0131. \u015eark Ekspresinin yeni sefer g\u00fczergah\u0131ndan I. D\u00fcnya Sava\u015f\u0131n\u0131n ma\u011fluplar\u0131 olan Almanya ve Avusturya&#8217;n\u0131n istasyonlar\u0131 \u00e7\u0131kar\u0131ld\u0131. B\u00f6ylece \u015eark Ekspresi Paris, Lozan, Milano ve Venedik \u00fczerinden 58 saatte \u0130stanbul&#8217;a ula\u015fmaya ba\u015flad\u0131. 1929&#8217;daki b\u00fcy\u00fck ekonomik bunal\u0131m trenin yolcular\u0131n\u0131n azalmas\u0131na yol a\u00e7t\u0131. \u015eark Ekpresi \u00e7e\u015fitli roman ve filmlere konu oldu. \u00dcnl\u00fc \u0130ngiliz polisiye roman yazar\u0131 Agatha Christie &#8216;\u015eark Ekspresinde Cinayet&#8217; isimli roman\u0131n\u0131 1934 y\u0131l\u0131nda yay\u0131nlad\u0131.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u015eark Ekspresi sadece yolcu treni de\u011fildi. Tren, \u00e7e\u015fitli ticaret e\u015fyalar\u0131n\u0131 kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131kl\u0131 olarak \u0130stanbul&#8217;a ve Paris&#8217;e ta\u015f\u0131yordu. \u0130stanbul&#8217;da Frans\u0131zca olarak yay\u0131nlanan La Patrie gazetesinde yay\u0131nlanan haberlere g\u00f6re 1925 \u015eapka Devriminden sonra binlerce \u015fapka ve kasket \u015eark Ekspresiyle \u0130stanbul&#8217;a getirildi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">II. D\u00fcnya Sava\u015f\u0131 (1939-1945) s\u0131ras\u0131nda \u015eark Ekspresinin seferleri tekrar kesintiye u\u011frad\u0131. II. D\u00fcnya Sava\u015f\u0131ndan sonra Trenin g\u00fczergah\u0131 \u00fczerindeki \u00fclkelerin bir k\u0131sm\u0131nda sosyalist rejimler kuruldu. So\u011fuk sava\u015f sebebiyle \u00e7e\u015fitli k\u0131s\u0131tlamalarla kar\u015f\u0131 kar\u015f\u0131ya kalan ve gittik\u00e7e \u00f6nemini kaybeden \u015eark Ekspresi son seferini 27 May\u0131s 1977 tarihinde ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirdi. Trenin vagonlar\u0131 Montecarlo&#8217;da sat\u0131ld\u0131. Agatha Christie&#8217;in &#8216;\u015eark Ekspresinde Cinayet&#8217; isimli roman\u0131n\u0131na konu olan trenin iki vagonu bir \u0130ngiliz taraf\u0131ndan sat\u0131n al\u0131nd\u0131. Vagonlardan baz\u0131lar\u0131 Fas Kraliyet Saray\u0131 M\u00fczesi taraf\u0131ndan sat\u0131n al\u0131nd\u0131.
